Our beautifully soft pure Jacob wool is grown by happy meadow grazed sheep here on the South Downs. Jacobs are distinctive looking sheep with their multicoloured fleeces and ornamental horns. Their soft wool is naturally black (bleaching to chocolate by the sun) and white but the fleece can be mixed during spinning to create light, medium and dark grey shades and browns too. The wool is fine and soft making it ideal for hand spinning and, of course, for really soft teddy bears. I have not separated or sorted the colours in the fleece but allowed the wool to be naturally variegated as I spin. Each ball will be slightly different with varying amounts of light and dark, this creates a wonderful effect when knitted.
