This is little Emily who is an English bear full of character, made by Chiltern, and she dates to 1940. She measures 15 inches in height.
Emily has been well loved (as all bears should be) and her soft blonde mohair which has wonderful “old bear” thinning and bald areas has been cuddled away. Her remaining mohair is clean, soft and shows no signs of any holes. She does have an ink mark on her back (please see photo), we can imagine her being tucked away in her young owner’s school satchel, along with school books and quite possibly this is were she come into contact with a leaky ink pen.
Her linen paw pads, the original rexine covering has long since worn away, show many very neat repairs and patching but she still has all original claw stitching intact. Emily’s five joints are all a little stiff, and her kapok filling has settled a little giving her a wonderful slouchy pose.
She has wonderfully appealing dark amber and black glass eyes (we don’t think these are original) with black nose and mouth stitching and she does have a non working squeaker in her tummy so he is rather a quiet little bear these days!
Emily looks very pretty in her pale green lacy dress (removable) and is a wonderful old vintage teddy bear.
