The Romney, formerly called the Romney Marsh sheep but generally referred to by locals as the Kent, is a breed of sheep originating in England.
They have adapted to survive on exposed and isolated salt marshes making them a good hardy breed!
Romney sheep produce a heavy fleece which can vary considerably from really quite coarse wool to wonderfully soft, it is also ideal for beginner hand spinners so I recommend trying this one (Jacob is great too!)
The fleece is usually white in colour but some sheep can be brown, grey with silver tones or even black.
I absolutely love this wool and use the wonderful natural grey colour for the teddy bears.
